Baby

Name: Baby D.O.B.: 05.09.2013. Breed: European Shorthair Tabby

Baby was just 12 hours old when I found him. He was born to the same feral mother as Cassie, Elly and Saffy. I happened to be cycling past when my friend’s dad was throwing him onto wasteland. He told me the feral had given birth during the night and that he simply didn’t want the hassle.

It was the first time I had ever raised a neonatal kitten, and Baby quickly became my whole world. I spent many sleepless nights feeding him and took him everywhere with me in a carrier so that he would never miss a feed.

Baby is utterly spoiled—and I freely admit that I brought him up to be a brat. But he’s a cat, so what’s the worst that can happen?

He is a complete mummy’s boy. Although he is friendly with other people, he saves his deepest affection for me. In winter, he sleeps under the covers cuddled up beside me, while in summer he prefers my pillow, right above my head. If I close a door between us, he will cry until it is opened, and if he feels I’m not giving him enough attention, he will launch himself from the floor straight onto me.

He can be incredibly clingy and occasionally drive me completely mad, but I wouldn’t have him any other way.

Baby is not just my cat. He has been part of my life since he was barely a few hours old, and the bond we share is incredibly special. He is, quite simply, the love of my life—and I am absolutely not ashamed to say it. ❤️🐾
