Mimi

Age: 6 years old (born 2020) Breed: Domestic Longhair Colour: Tortoiseshell

Mimi was left on my doorstep during the pandemic when she was only about 2½ months old. She was originally supposed to be adopted through the association I was working with at the time, but I fell completely in love with her and, well… she stayed!

I’ve always thought tortoiseshells were the most beautiful cats, and Mimi was especially gorgeous with all that fluffy fur. She was incredibly cuddly as a kitten, although she’s considerably less affectionate now. She does still come to me chirping occasionally when she wants attention, will ask for pets when she’s in the mood, and tends to sleep with me at night.

Mimi spends a lot of her time curled up on the bridge or hammocks on the cat wall, or in her swinging basket, which only she uses!

She is also, quite frankly, a little pain in the bum. Despite being well past the usual crazy-kitten stage, Mimi is still a complete nutter. She zooms around the flat with absolutely no regard for anything or anyone in her way, and has a particular habit of sitting on top of doors and then scaring the crap out of me as I walk past. Basically, if Mimi is awake, there is a very good chance she’s up to something.

Her fur is extremely long and fine, and I suspect there may be some Angora or Persian somewhere in her ancestry. In Summer, I have to clip her because she gets horribly knotted regardless of how often I comb her. I regularly tell her that it’s a very good job she’s so pretty, because she drives me completely round the bend.

My dad calls her “Bottle Brush”, which is entirely appropriate given that she has a truly impressive tail.

Mimi may be a beautiful, fluffy little menace, but she’s my beautiful, fluffy little menace!
