Misi 🐾

Misi | 15 years old (in 2026) | Common European Tabby

Misi is my oldest cat and a very special old gentleman. ❤️

I found him when he was about eight months old, after his previous owner had abandoned him on the street. He was sleeping underneath cars on a very busy road, and although I wasn’t particularly street-savvy myself at the time, I knew that if he stayed there, he probably wouldn’t have a happy ending. So I brought him home — and he’s been part of my life ever since.

Misi has always been the peaceful one. He is the resident gentleman of the household and, over the years, all my other cats have gone to him for a comforting head wash. He is incredibly sociable and will happily greet just about anyone who comes through the door.

About two years ago, Misi was diagnosed with *HCM (Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy), and about a year ago he was also diagnosed with **hypothyroidism*. He does very well with his fairly strict routine of medication, supplements and regular check-ups with my trusted vet. Despite being an old man now, he is still happy, active and very much enjoying life.

His favourite things include lying on the bathroom rug, complaining loudly because I won’t let him eat everything on my plate, and — naturally — boxes. Big boxes, small boxes, any boxes. If it fits, Misi will investigate it.

As you can see from some of his older photos, Misi used to be quite a chunky boy. He lost a significant amount of weight after I switched all my cats to a better-quality food, and then lost some more as a result of his thyroid problems. He has also naturally lost some muscle mass with age. Although he looks very different from his younger self, the weight loss has actually been much healthier for him, and he is doing well.

These days, Misi is happiest when he is close to me. If I’m on the sofa watching TV, he will be right beside me, and every night he sleeps by my side.

After everything he went through as a young cat, I’m so grateful that he ended up here. Fifteen years on, Misi is still my gentle, sociable old man — and very much the heart of our little cat family. ❤️🐾
